So Ellen Degeneres challenged Michelle Obama to a push-up contest when interviewing the First Lady the other day. This created quite a stir because Michelle proceeded to do about 25 before Ellen dropped out. But if you check out the video, Michelle is doing them wrong!! She barely goes halfway down, which wouldn’t count with any personal trainer, gym teacher, or Army drill sergeant that I know. Yeah, it’s still hard do 25 that way, but the feat isn’t as “amazing” as it might appear if you just read the story without checking the video. See for yourself:

DGB chooses Mizzou!

Wow, one of the top football recruits in the nation has committed to Mizzou! Dorial Green-Beckham, a 6-6 WR widely regarded as the nation’s best, will stay in his home state of Missouri and play for coach Gary Pinkel’s Tigers next season. This gives the Tigers a legitimate inside and outside threat, and should significantly improve their offense.

Will DGB’s commitment be enough to help Mizzou do well in its inaugural season in the SEC? Probably not; but at least the Tiger offense should be A LOT more fun to watch than they were last season.

Fender Deluxe Player’s Stratocaster Electric Guitar

My husband has been wanting to buy a guitar for years. He has never played one before, but like most guys, has always dreamed of doing so. We’re finally in a place where we can start to indulge a little bit, so he’s getting ready to make a purchase. After several weeks of research, he has decided to go with a Fender Deluxe Player’s Stratocaster electric guitar.

There are a few different reasons for making this choice. First, it’s a Fender. Everyone knows this name, whether they’re into music or not. This is THE name in guitars, so we can be 100 percent positive that we’re getting a quality instrument. Second, this particular model has received very good user reviews at various online stores. People who have actually bought this guitar praise it for its sound looks, and beautiful maple neck. And finally, the price point is just right. I had assumed that a Fender Stratocaster would cost way too much for us to even consider purchasing, but they actually have a bunch of different models that fit many different budgets.

Even though this guitar will be only for my husband, I can’t help but feel excited about it as well. After hearing him explain the positives about the Fender Deluxe Player’s Stratocaster electric guitar, I agree that this model would be the perfect one to start with. Now all he has to do is order the guitar and sign up for some lessons!

17-year-old lives on Chicken McNuggets

Wow, I thought I had a bad junk food addiction, but it pales in comparison to Stacey Irvine’s! The 17-year-old British factory worker claims to have eaten nothing but Chicken McNuggets since she was 2 years old. No fruit, no vegetables, no steaks … nothing but Chicken McNuggets.

Why is this news? Because Stacey is now apparently sick. After collapsing and having trouble breathing, she was taken to the hospital where her strange eating habits came to light.

Predictably, people are going crazy about this and are using the story as another excuse to attack McDonald’s and other fast food chains.

But give me a break. honestly, who in their right mind would eat McNuggets 3x/day for 15 years and think that could possibly lead to anything good??? Honestly, she would probably be sick if she ONLY ate apples for every meal, ya know? Balance is the key, and I think most sane folks understand that.

Tweeting allowed during Pro Bowl

NFL players will be allowed to tweet during this year’s Pro Bowl game if they want. The NFL will set up computers on each sideline to encourage players to tweet to the fans or each other during the game. Normally the NFL prohibits the use of all social media for a period of time before, during, and after games, but I guess they can change the rules when it suits their interests. In this case, players will be required to use the #ProBowl hashtag, which essentially promotes the event on Twitter.

I usually think the NFL is too strict with their rules, but I don’t mind the social media prohibition. The fact that tweeting is allowed during the Pro Bowl just goes to show that this doesn’t resemble real NFL football in any way, shape, or form. I have never in my life watched a complete Pro Bowl from beginning to end, and I definitely won’t be starting this weekend!

Vocal Mic for Musicians

My younger cousin is really into music and has been taking singing lessons for several years now. For his graduation present, he wants me to get him a shure sm7 microphone, which is supposed to be the very top of the line when it comes to vocal mics. In fact, this is the model that Michael Jackson used when recording Thriller, so that tells you how good it is.

I don’t know a thing about mics, but if this is the model my cousin wants, then this is exactly what I’m going to get him. Now the only thing I have left to do is look around for the lowest price and I’ll be set!

NFL Championship Weekend

Okay, there are two great NFL games on the schedule today: New England vs. Baltimore and SF vs. NYG. I hate the Patriots, so even though I have no real rooting interest in Baltimore, I want them to win today. And how can I not be behind the 49ers and everything Jim Harbaugh has done to pull the team together and turn around their fortunes?

Yes, a Baltimore-San Francisco Super Bowl would likely be a boring defensive struggle (“boring” to those that like big offenses) and, like the NCAA championship game, a repeat of an in-season matchup, I don’t want any of the other options either!

So…. Go Ravens and Go Niners!
