This initially sounded like a promising show starring Matthew Perry and Allison Janney, but it tanked in the ratings and was canceled after just nine of 13 episodes aired.

So now I want to ask: was this canceled because of bad ratings or because Perry had to go through another round of hydrocodone vicodin addiction detox that interrupted filming? I don’t follow celeb gossip that much, but I do see headlines, so I usually end up with half a story.

Anyway, I guess there’s no point in wasting my time on these episodes since I know there won’t be a Season 2 — or even a conclusion to Season 1. Oh, well… that leaves me with more space on the TiVo!

We’ve done a lot of cleaning and painting, and have been there while some guys came in to install chairs and stuff. We’ve also printed off brochures and bought slat wall fixtures to display the brochures.

Whew! That’s a lot of stuff, but we’re not done yet. While I admire those who possess this kind of entrepreneurial spirit, I would never do anything like this myself. Hope the store works out for her!

I don’t think he’d actually use the digital camera very much after the initial excitement wears off, so I’m leaning towards an MP3 player. I was browsing a bit earlier and somehow arrived at this Lecteurs MP3, where I saw some nice options. I think I’m going to go with an iPod Shuffle, which is a good entry-level player that would be perfect for kids. It doesn’t have a screen to scratch up or break, and it’s got a built-in clip for portability. Plus, it’s only $49 — a real bargain as far as Apple products go! We’ll see if I end up buying this.

Man, I have Blackhawks on the brain this morning!! I am still riled up from their amazing win yesterday afternoon. I swear, I dreamed about Patrick Kane’s game-tying goal and Marian Hossa’s game-winner in OT all night long! If I’m feeling this kind of effect, I wonder what Pekka Rinne and the rest of the Nashville Predators are feeling right now? They must be pretty darn low!

Anyway, as usual, when the Blackhawks pull out a huge win like that, I feel like buying as much gear as possible. I recently received my Jonathan Toews jersey (yes, I finally pulled the trigger on that order) and now want to buy this Chicago Blackhawks Backpack next. It’s an officially licensed NHL product with the NHL shield on one of the shoulder straps. It also has an Indian head applique on the front and the crossed tomahawks over the “C” logo on the side water bottle pocket. The backpack is made of 840D nylon, which means it should be pretty durable. In short, this looks like a cool little pack for everyday use.

Buy.com has it for $29.99 with free shipping. I don’t know if that’s a sale price or not, but either way I think it’s a good deal. I use backpacks instead of a purse, so they have to be just the right size — which means neither too big nor too small. This one is 17″ x 13 1/34″, which is perfect! Can’t wait to get this… and GO HAWKS!!!

I usually spend a lot of time on the Chicago Blackhawks Message Board, but had to step away for a few days. Ever since the Hawks squandered a 4-goal lead in the third period and lost in a shootout to Minnesota and then came home and dropped another game 3-1 to the Ducks, Hawks fans have been on the ledge, worried that the season is over. I felt like I should be posting some suggested treatments for depression to talk them all down! So the team lost two winnable games… I was sure they’d use it as a learning experience.

And that’s precisely what they did, coming back for a 3-0 shutout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. Granted, the Blue Jackets are cellar dwellers this year, but whatever. In hockey, you take momentum wherever you can get it. The Hawks now lead the league with 8 shutouts on the season, and remain in first place in the Western Conference.

Saturday marks the start of a very long road trip. Let’s hope the momentum carries through!

I don’t pay much attention to the news. I never watch TV news, and I don’t subscribe to any papers. I have Yahoo set as my homepage, so I just scan their headlines whenever I land there.

What I want to know is why there was no mention of the “Tea Party” protest from this past September 12?? Tens of thousands of protesters descended on the Capitol to protest the direction this country is heading in. This wasn’t just a march against health care, it also was a protest against higher taxes, government intervention in big business, the growing federal debt, etc.

I’ve seen pictures of the event, and it looks like it was a major gathering. But I didn’t see a single article about it on Yahoo at all during the weekend. In fact, I actually found out about the protests on the Daily Mail site — a UK newspaper! Why is that??

Anyway, the Daily Mail says “up to 2 million” people converged on the Capitol, but further research showed that no one can quite agree on how many were there. I’ve seen low estimates at around 30,000 as well, so who can tell.

Well, since I’m not exactly sleeping anyway, I might as well get up and get this day started. I’ll head out for my walk/jog, then come back, down a weight loss supplement for “breakfast”, get the family ready for work and school, and then settle in for my day. I’ve got a lot of schoolwork to do, including a paper that has to be written by Sunday night (just 3 pages, fortunately), and then some freelance work that I’m behind on for one of my long-term clients.

By the time I finish that stuff, I’m sure I’ll be ready to crash for a two- or three-hour nap! Still, I have to stay focused today because I’ve got plans for the weekend and won’t be around to finish this stuff up. I have to get it done by tomorrow night.
