Hawks up 2-0

Man, that was another defibrillator game over at the UC tonight!! The Hawks scored two goals 28 seconds apart in the second period, then held off a frantic Philadelphia attack seemingly all throughout the third in order to come away with a 2-1 victory in Game 2. Now Chicago is up 2-0 in the series, which resumes Wednesday night in Philly.

The best part of the game for me was that Marian Hossa finally broke his 8-game goal scoring drought when he potted his third of the playoffs. He must be relieved to get that monkey off his back!

The Hawks have played 2 decent periods out of 6, and are lucky to have won these games. I hope they step it up on the road — where they have excelled all season long.

GO HAWKS!!!

4-Way iPod Charging Kit

Like most people, I absolutely love my iPod and iPhone. These are devices that I use more than any other, the ones I simply cannot leave home without. But neither have terrific battery life, which is why I always have to be aware of how much juice is left before I go out. This is a bit of an annoyance, particularly since I have a bunch of different chargers to use depending on whether I’m at home, at my work computer, or in my car. So when I saw this Empire Brands 4-Way iPod Charging Kit, I immediately recognized it as something that could make my life easier.

This 4-Way iPod charging kit features four different charging mechanisms housed on a single body. With this device, you can charge your iPod or iPhone via a standard wall plug, car cigarette lighter, computer USB port, or — in extreme cases — by hooking the thing up to a 9V battery. This would definitely be much more convenient than having to make sure I have the right cable along with me in my bag!

Right now the Empire Brands 4-Way iPod Charger is on sale for a mere $9.99 at Buy.com, which is $20 off the regular price. I hope to order one before the weekend is over!

What happened to RC?

What happened to Ricky Carmichael??? The former MX and SX champion used to be known for his legendary training regimen that allowed him to become the winningest rider of all-time (both sports combined, I mean) when he was on the circuit. He used to be chubby when he first turned pro at age 16, but after working with Aldon Baker, he ended up sporting a chiseled physique.

But now look at him after just 2 years of “retirement”, in which he switched from motocross to NASCAR’s truck series. Yikes, what a chunker he’s become again! RC needs to find a new diet pill ASAP, otherwise he’ll have a very hard time getting back into shape. I really can’t believe how much he has let himself go. I can understand wanting a burger and fries once in a while, but RC looks like he hits McDonald’s every single day!!!

Let’s get started!

Man, Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals cannot get here fast enough!!! The Hawks haven’t played since Sunday night, but it feels like they’ve been off for two weeks already. I thought the series should have started tonight, but whatever. I guess the NHL is trying to build things up with media days like the NFL does for the Super Bowl. Sure, some funny stuff comes out of these interviews, like Kaner describing his mullet as “Billy Ray Cyrus with a bit of Vanilla Ice” or seeing him with that scraggly beard after not being able to grow any facial hair last year. Looks like he could use some pronexin for those pimples, though!

But at the same time, I’m getting sick of hearing about Keith’s lost teeth or the “Hossa Curse”. And I’m really getting sick of Flyer’s fans talking smack about the outcome of the series. Both teams made it for a reason. Neither one is going to steamroll the other. It’s going to be a battle, and I can barely wait another 28 hours.

GO HAWKS!!!

Aluratek Internet Radio Jukebox

I love gadgets, so I’m always coming across interesting products that instantly go on a mental “wish list” of things to buy when I have some extra cash. This Aluratek USB Internet Radio Jukebox certainly fits that description!

The USB Internet Radio Jukebox is exactly what the name implies. It looks like a regular USB flash drive, but instead of being an empty storage unit for you to save files to, it comes pre-loaded with 13,000 Internet radio stations from more than 150 countries around the world. This allows you to easily search for the kind of music you like without getting bogged down with the irrelevant results that invariably pop up in Google. Yes, I realize that the stations on the Internet Radio Jukebox are available for free to anyone who has time to run these manual searches, but seriously, this product would just make the whole enterprise so much easier!

To be honest, I wouldn’t be so keen on this USB Internet Radio Jukebox if it cost a lot of money, but it’s on sale at Buy.com right now for a total cost of $16.79. That’s not too bad for the kind of convenience you get from a product like this! I’m going to save this idea for sometime when I have a bit of extra cash and want to spend it on something fun!

Venus Williams’ French Open outfit

Have you seen Venus Wiliams’ French Open outfit? In this AP photo, she looks like she’s wearing something for the bedroom, not something for the middle of the day at Roland Garros. Granted, this tournament is not nearly as stuffy or as stringent about outfits as Wimbledon, but still….

I would never wear something like (mostly because I still haven’t found any diet supplements that work for me), but Venus can pull it off with her body. I just don’t see how anyone could focus on anything else with her in that getup!

Bieber Mania

It’s practically impossible to get on Twitter, Facebook, or Google without seeing Justin Bieber’s name come up. He’s almost always a “trending topic” or “hot search” or whatever, and though I’d never heard of him before, seeing his name in all these different places made me want to at least find out what the fuss was about.

Turns out he’s some 16-year-old Canadian kid who caught a break when some record producer discovered him on YouTube. I’ve never (knowingly) heard a Bieber song, so I can’t tell you if the guy has talent or not. But I can certainly see why the young girls go crazy for him. He must have a never-ending supply of the best acne face wash and hair gel around because his face and hair are flawless. No doubt the 12-year-olds are all tearing his pictures out of Tiger Beat and hanging them on their bedroom walls and locker doors.

I was there once. Of course, back in my day Kirk Cameron was the “it” boy….LMAO!!!!!
