Well, it’s pretty much impossible to avoid stories about Jesse James and Sandra Bullock’s marital troubles. Three alleged mistresses have surfaced thus far, and James has apparently checked himself into an Arizona rehab clinic that specializes in drug, alcohol, and sex addiction. Meanwhile, there have been rumors that Sandra Bullock filed for divorce, but as of now that hasn’t been substantiated by any creditable news sources. She continues to lie low as all this is going down. Is there anyone not on Team Sandy at this point???
I don’t watch many sitcoms on TV these days, but How I Met Your Mother is one of them. Despite some uneven writing and an unnecessarily prolonged main storyline (Ted not meeting his future wife yet — come on, the clock is ticking!), I still like this show. The characters are what make it successful, and Season 4, the one that highlighted Barney falling for Robin, was the best of the series thus far.
That’s why I want to buy the How I Met Your Mother Season 4 DVDs. Actually, I don’t own any other seasons of this show on DVD — and don’t feel the need to. But I <3 Barney and Robin, so I wouldn't mind reliving all the great moments leading up to Barney's confession. The longing looks, the random comments, the general angst on Barney's part... What a fantastic season for the 'shippers!
The Season 4 DVD set also comes with some bonus features, like a gag reel, "That Guy's Awesome" music video about Barney, a Marshall Fight Club thing (I have no idea what that is), and some audio commentaries for a few select episodes. All this for a sale price of $20 is not bad at all! I hardly ever buy just one season of a show I like, but for HIMYM, Season 4 could be the exception — unless, of course, Barney and Robin end up together in the 2032 future (which is how it works out in my mind)!

Wow, what a horrible story to wake up to this morning. Two female suicide bombers struck approximately 45 minutes apart at two different Moscow subway stations during rush hour. The attacks, which are being claimed as the work of Chechen rebels (or Caucasus Islamic separatists), have thus far resulted in 38 deaths and more than 60 injured. What a scary scenario all around. I hope nothing further happens over there — or anywhere else in the world, for that matter.

I used to love hockey when I was a kid, and pretty much lived and died according to the fortunes of the Chicago Blackhawks. But my interest in the team waned significantly after they traded away Jeremy Roenick in his prime, and I stopped watching during the horrendous years when the team routinely finished in the cellar. I came back during last year’s resurgence, and have watched every single game this year. Does that make me a bandwagon fan? Please say no!
Anyway, I was browsing around some websites today and came across this Chicago Blackhawks Great Moments and Classic Games DVD set. I’d never even heard of it prior to this morning, but the product description sounds fantastic! It’s a 6-disc set that features amazing plays and games from past and present stars like Roenick, Tony Amonte, Denis Savard, Tony Esposito, Bobby Hull, Patrick Kane, and Jonathan Toews. Plus, there are some unforgettable moments included in this set, such as the singing of the national anthem at the 1991 All-Star game (the one that set the precedent for cheering all the way through), and the final few minutes of the 1961 Stanley Cup Championship, which of course was the last time the Hawks won it all.
Clearly, I need to get these DVDs! The set is on sale at Buy.com for $26.99, but they only have a few left in stock, so I better order soon. I have a feeling that this year’s team has the ability to create some more memorable moments (remember that early game against Calgary when they came back from a 5-goal deficit?) and have a great shot at winning the Cup. If they do, I’ll have to buy next year’s DVD as well!
Well, after tonight’s games, half of the 2010 NCAA Final Four is set. The West Virginia Mountaineers ousted No. 1 seed Kentucky by a score of 73-66, while Butler took care of Kansas St. 63-56. Now we just have to wait for Duke and Purdue to battle it out, and then see who can come out on top in the Tennessee-Michigan St. matchup.
At this point, I’m pulling for Butler, as they’re the only Cinderella team left standing, but I really have no true loyalties one way or the other. I would be just as happy to see Duke win and add to Coach K’s legacy.
These last few games should be exciting, though! I can’t wait to watch some more basketball tomorrow!

We’re three months into 2010, which for most people means the 2009 holiday season is already a distant memory. Do you happen to remember what the hottest toys were last Christmas? Zhu Zhu Pets! I usually don’t pay much attention to that sort of thing because my son is more interested in video games than toys, but I remember about the Zhu Zhu Pets because my young niece really, really wanted one. They were all sold out, though, so we got her something else.
Now that it’s not Christmas, items like this Zhu Zhu Pets Hamster are of course readily available. My niece’s birthday is coming up in a couple of months, so I’m thinking of buying this for her now (if she still wants it). What makes Zhu Zhu Pets so popular is that they can move around and explore on their own or make cute little noises as you cuddle up with them. They also have customizable habitats, which I guess kids love arranging.
Anyway, this particular Zhu Zhu Pets hamster is called Mr. Squiggles, and he’s on sale for just $10.99 at Buy.com — or $9.99 after using a $1 coupon. This is a far cry from the hundreds of dollars these items were going for on eBay during Christmas! Like I said, I’m not sure if my niece would still be interested, but I hope so. Then again, four-year-olds are notorious for changing their minds all the time!
Man, I planned to spend the evening watching the Blackhawks take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, but I’ve already turned the game off. Cristobal Huet got the start in goal for Chicago, and was his usual sucky self, giving up 5 goals on 20 shots in less than 2 periods. I have no idea why Coach Q continues to put this guy in net — other than the fact that he has a huge $5 million contract. HUET SUCKS!!! He is not a No.1 goalie and doesn’t deserve this kind of playing time regardless of his contract. I feel like the Hawks just gave away 2 points tonight by having him in there. He gave up a shitty goal just 33 seconds in and never rebounded from that. What a friggin disaster.
To be fair, the Hawks defense has been terrible too, but somehow Niemi overcame that in his last outing against Phoenix. Stick with Niemi, please!!!
