This actually wasn’t a terrible effort by the Bears. I wish the D wouldn’t have given up 10 points right out the gate, but they buckled down (for the most part) after that and at least kept things close.
But the offense. Man, the offense. Every week that goes by, I believe in Cutler a little less. I think all the interceptions have shaken his confidence, because how else do you explain him badly overthrowing three wide open receivers on what would have been sure touchdowns? It’s like he’s trying to overcompensate and make sure he doesn’t get picked so he throws it too far.
At 4-6, the Bears are all but mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Since 1990 when the Wild Card system was introduced, only 7% of teams starting 4-6 have made their way in.
I had such high hopes for the season. I thought watching the offense would be fun. But now all I do is hold my breath and hope Cutler doesn’t throw an INT.
