I get the feeling that I should be writing about more important things, like the DC Metro crash, the civil unrest in Iran, or the North Korean ship carrying weapons to Myanmar. But honestly, I just don’t have the energy to harp on everything that’s wrong in the world these days.
Instead, I just have to ask: why are people ridiculing Madonna for adopting lots of kids from different countries? I don’t actually read many celebrity-focused articles, but I see the headlines all the time and puzzle over what they mean. So Madonna is apparently trying to adopt a girl from Malawi or something, and most of the headlines contain snippy, sneering remarks about her efforts.
But doesn’t Angelina Jolie pretty much do the exact same thing? And yet she’s hailed as a modern-day saint for continually adding to her brood.
What gives? What’s the difference between these two? Why are people treating Madonna’s adoption efforts as something to make fun of? I don’t get it….
