Like most people, I absolutely hate getting telemarketing calls in the evening. I mean, I understand that the callers are just doing their jobs, so I don’t blame them personally when they interrupt my dinner or whatever I happen to be doing, but I don’t like it either. Even with caller ID and the national Do Not Call registry, I get several unsolicited sales calls every week. It’s a nuisance that I would like to put an end to, which is why I’m giving the Telezapper TZ-900 a closer look.
The Telezapper TZ-900 is a simple device that connects directly (and unobtrusively) to my home phone line. It then automatically sends a “dead line” signal whenever I receive a call. If the call was placed by a human (i.e. if it was a legitimate call), then the signal doesn’t have any effect one way or the other. But if it was a computer generated call, which most telemarketing calls are these days, the computer on the other end will perceive my line as dead and the call will be terminated.
How will I know if the Telezapper has zapped a telemarketing call? If I pick up the phone and there’s no one on the other line, then I can be relatively certain that the Telezapper has just saved me from dealing with a telemarketer.
Ordinarily, the Telezapper TZ-900 Telemarketing Call Eliminator retails for $39.95, which is the price listed on the official website. But as usual, Buy.com gives consumers a much better deal. It’s on sale over there for just $8.97, including free shipping. I don’t think I’ll be able to find the Telezapper for less than that, so guess where I’m ordering from!
