Air France has decided to give the families of Flight 447 crash victims an initial settlement of 17,500 Euros, or about $24,000. This money is considered an “advance” and comes with no conditions or strings attached. I guess that leaves the door open for future lawsuits, depending on what crash investigators determine to be the cause of the accident.
I’m not sure how much victims’ families usually receive, so I have no idea how much more these guys can expect from Air France. Apparently, this advance can be used to offset travel and funeral expenses, as the victims of the disaster were from 33 different countries.
