The conviction comes some 13 years too late, and is for a far less serious crime than double homicide, but at last O.J. Simpson will face the fate that many people thought he deserved back in 1995. Yesterday a Las Vegas jury found Simpson guilty of robbing two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint last year. He was also found guilty of kidnapping and 10 other charges related to the same incident.
The armed robbery conviction carries a minimum two-year sentence, while kidnapping can net Simpson anywhere from 5 years to life.
Sentencing is on December 5.
I’ve always believed that Simpson was guilty of killing Ron and Nicole. The DNA evidence proved that, though few people understood that at the time. There’s no way Simpson would be acquitted of those murders had that trial taken place today, when everyone and their mother watches police procedurals on television.
I’m glad he managed to find a way to get himself into trouble, and will end up serving time behind bars. This has been a long time coming.
