I can’t believe I remembered about the Booking Through Thursday meme on time this week! Anyway, here are the questions:
What is your earliest memory of a library? Who took you? Do you have you any funny/odd memories of the library?
The library was definitely one of my favorite places to go as a child. I remember how proud I was when I got my very first library card with my own name and address on it. It meant independence because I didn’t have to ask my mom or dad to check books out for me.
Anyway, my earliest memory of a library is probably just going into the children’s section, picking up a book, and sitting in one of the cozy little child sized chairs to read. I spent what seemed like hours at the library every Saturday and never got tired of going.
As for who took me, it was mostly my mom or dad until I got old enough to walk or bike to the library by myself. I’d say from the time I was 10 or so, I was regularly making the 10-block trek to the library at least once a week, and far more in the summer when I had nothing to do except read.
No funny or odd memories of the library — just really great ones!
