I don’t follow baseball all that closely, but can at least name one star on every team in the league. So imagine my surprise when I watched the Home Run Derby tonight and saw Josh Hamilton put on an amazing display in the first round. I was like, wait, Josh who??? I’d never even heard of the guy and there he was popping 28 homers over the wall.
I looked him up on Wikipedia and saw that he’s been around the minor leagues since he was drafted in 1999, but was suspended for a time for drug and alcohol abuse. This is his second year back after getting clean, and he’s having a heck of a season so far.
We always hear about athletes throwing their careers away thanks to drugs or alcohol, so it’s good to see one recover every once in a while.
