I’ve been working out a health club three times a week for the past 5 weeks now. I haven’t lost any weight yet, but I’m definitely getting into better shape. I have more strength and stamina than I did when I first started, and I feel great! I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before the weight loss follows.
Anyway, I’m still trying to figure out an ideal time to get my exercise in. I tried going in the early morning, but the place is packed with people doing weights and machines before work. These are mostly executive types who constantly tap away on their Blackberrys or read the Wall St. Journal while walking on the treadmill. This is definitely the money crowd, with their expensive suits, Patek Calatrava wristwatches, and Lexus SUVs out in the parking lot. I don’t fit in at all!
Later in the morning the mommy crowd descends on the health club, as homemakers scramble to get their workouts in while their kids are at school. Even moms with little ones can still come, thanks to the children’s play center at the club. I don’t really like this crowd either, as the talk is always about kids, family, and gossip.
So recently, I’ve been going at around 8:30pm. This seems to be better because the after work crowd is gone by then, leaving most of the machines and equipment open. The problem is I don’t like going that late because I miss out on tucking my son into bed! I know it’s just three days a week, but still…. I don’t like it.
I guess I’ll just have to keep trying out different times until I find something that works.
