The New York Giants just got done pulling off one of the biggest upsets in all of sports as they defeated the New England Patriots by a score of 17-14 in Super Bowl XLII. The Giants’ D kept the game close, and then the offense came on strong when it counted in the 4th Quarter.
Trailing 14-10 with 2:39 remaining in regulation, the Giants started their final drive from their own 17 yard line. Quarterback Eli Manning made some spectacular plays on the drive, including an unbelievable 32-yard completion to David Tyree after it looked like Manning was going to get sacked.
Four plays later, Manning found Plaxico Burress in the end zone on a beautifully thrown 13-yard fade with just :35 left in the game.
The Patriots had one last gasp at getting into position for a tying field goal, but Tom Brady threw three incompletions and was sacked once, ending New England’s perfect season.
