I just read an article about how scientists in South Korea have successfully introduced fluorescent protein (RFP) into cloned cats. The cats look like “regular” cats, but they actually glow orange-red under ultraviolet light. Apparently, there is significant scientific value in this experiment, because cats can be afflicted with nearly 250 genetic disorders that also affect humans. Moreover, refined cloning technology can be used to repopulate the world with animal species that are on the brink of extinction (think Jurassic Park on a much less destructive scale).
