Evel Knievel dies at 69

ek.jpg By now you’ve probably heard that motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel died yesterday at the age of 69. He had been suffering from a variety of health ailments, including diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, so his passing wasn’t altogether unexpected. Still, it’s kind of sad to see an icon from my childhood go like this.

My brother was a huge Evel Knievel fan back when we were kids, and even though I wasn’t into motorcycles at that time, I couldn’t help but admire the guy as well. His jumps were absolutely amazing, and his crashes were even more spectacular. It’s said that Evel broke almost every bone in his body at one time or another, so I guess he’s lucky that he survived his jumping career at all. Several news stations have been showing highlights of his jumps, and honestly, I can’t believe that he survived them all!

I wonder what Evel thought of the modern brand of motorcycle daredevil, the Travis Pastranas and Carey Harts of the world…. I happen to think they’re all crazy!

Going Back to Work?

I’ve been working from home for several years now, and even though I love it for the most part, I still think about what it would be like to have a real career again. I sometimes miss getting dressed for work, enjoying a bit of camaraderie at the office, and getting a nice paycheck every single week. That’s why I check out job listings every once in a while, just in case I come across something that I would like to apply for.

For example, this morning I saw that webloyalty has several open positions in their Norwalk, CT office. I know about webloyalty because of the various customer loyalty programs that they provide to Internet retailers, and because of their position as one of the leading online marketing firms in the country.

I used to work for a similar company, so this kind of job would be perfect for me. It’s too bad that we’re not going to be moving to Connecticut anytime soon, otherwise I’d send in my resume for sure!
