Booking Through Thursday

Do you have “issues” with too much profanity or overly explicit (ahem) “romantic” scenes in books? Or do you take them in stride? Have issues like these ever caused you to close a book? Or do you go looking for more exactly like them? (grin)

In all honesty, I don’t really read books in which these types of issues are bound to crop up. If anything, the exact opposite is true of the books I read. The authors’ vagueness leads me to scratch my head and reconsider the entire scene:  “Wait, Tess was raped by Alec?” or “Charles Ryder and Sebastian Flyte were more than just best buds???”

I probably wouldn’t put a book down just because of language or explicit content; however, I can’t really imagine picking up something like that to begin with!

Betting on Pro Football

I’ve been doing pretty poorly in my fantasy football league this year (I’m just 1-3 after four weeks), but have been cleaning up in my pick ‘em league. For those of you who don’t know, in pick ‘em, all you do is pick which teams you think will win for the week — including the points spread and all. I’ve got 44 points so far, and a huge lead on the second-place team.

I can’t help but think that one of these weeks I should put some real money on the line in order to win more than just bragging rights. I was checking out the football betting section at Bet365.com and am really tempted to put my skills to the test. The betting layout is very straightforward, and it’s simple to sign up and get started with the site.

In addition to standard game lines, Bet365.com also features a bunch of weekly and game props that I can wager on, including things like which team will have the shortest field goal, which team will call the first timeout, which team will get the first penalty, etc.

As a longtime sports fan, I know games are always much more exciting when I have money on the line, so this is something I’m seriously considering. I would just start out with a small bankroll and try to build it up from there. Once I get more comfortable with everything, I can begin placing more substantial bets.

Bet365.com also offers betting on other major sports, as well as an online casino and dedicated online poker room, so if you’re looking for some gambling action check out the site today!
