What with the Bears reeling at 1-3 and the Irish looking abominable at 0-5, thank God there’s October baseball in Chicago! The Cubs, whom I have shamefully neglected to cover on this blog even when they became the Central Division champs a few days ago, are headed to the postseason for the second time in four years.
They’ll open their first-round series on Wednesday in Arizona against the D-backs. Zambrano will take the mound in Game 1, with Brandon Webb getting the call for Arizona. Should be a good one, and will certainly offer a nice midweek distraction from football.
One thing I feel bad about: all the stupidity regarding Steve Bartman, what with radio shows begging him to stay home and so forth. Hasn’t that poor guy suffered enough? Get over it, people!!
