Wow, what a disappointing game today between Notre Dame and Ga. Tech — at least for Irish fans. The offense looks completely anemic without Quinn and Samardzija in there, and the defense couldn’t make any stops. I wouldn’t care if the Irish lost the game while putting up a good fight, but they got killed out there today. It made for a very boring game to see all the three-and-outs on offense.
Demetrius Jones started the game at QB for the Irish, but he didn’t do much damage at all. He only made three pass attempts the whole time he was on the field, completing one of them for 4 yards. Then Evan Sharpley came on with just over two minutes remaining in the 2nd Quarter, but he got sacked twice in his first series and failed to get the Irish on the board before the half.
True freshman Jimmy Clausen came on with 5 minutes left to play in the 4th Quarter when the game was already out of reach. He didn’t get anything done either.
The ugly totals: 121 yards of total offense for Notre Dame, which reflects an astonishing -9 rushing yards. That’s incredible, considering the fact that they had 41 freakin’ rushing attempts on the day. 3 fumbles lost, only 12 first downs…. it was just terrible.
It’s shaping up to be a long season indeed!
But hey, at least losing to Ga. Tech isn’t as bad as No. 5 Michigan losing to Appalachian State (who???) in the Big House!!! Ha ha ha, sorry Wolverines fans!
I have been waiting for this day for months! College football is finally here!! I know the season officially started on Thursday night, but I wasn’t really interested in any of those games, so that didn’t count for me. I plan on watching the pregame shows (like Game Day with Kirk Herbstreit) on ESPN, then I’m going to switch it over to channel 5 for the Notre Dame game at 3:30. I’ll probably have the WSU-Wisconsin game on the picture-in-picture window so I can keep an eye on the Badgers too.
