I was looking at Google Trends today to see what the top searches are, and once again I’m completely baffled about what people are looking for on the net. The thing that struck me about the searches for today was the fact that so many of them were for older movies. I mean, right now Mighty Joe Young (from 1998) is the #8 search on Google Trends. I wonder what that’s all about. Also, Widow on the Hill (2005), 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), and A Knight’s Tale (2001) are all in the top 20. Weird.

The top search is for Las Vegas advisor, which I guess means a lot of people are planning to visit Sin City soon. There’s also a site in the top 10 called bestubelieve.com, but I’d never heard of it before checking out Google Trends today.

It seems that I’m never searching for the same things as the rest of the world!

bestubelieve.com is a phishing and identity theft site promoted by spamming MySpace with fake bulletins. See my post about it here:

    http://hitsusa.com/blog/47/bestubelievecom-warning/

It’s the identical site to yesterday’s version at amusementpeople.com:

They use scarcity (a phony ringtone offer) and fear (you are being stalked) to get people off balance and then pretends to be blocking non-legit traffic by using a login request to keep down “bot” traffic.

When you login, you get a trojan virus that loads other malware from a hacker site. Bad news all the way around.

Whoa, thanks for the warning. Good thing I just clicked through to the landing page and left without bothering to look around.
