I’ve been watching my Season 4 Ally McBeal DVDs for the past couple of weeks, and I’m surprised by how much I miss that show. I thought it was an excellent program in general (until the very last season, which was all kinds of horrendous) and Season 4 is definitely my favorite. That’s the one where Robert Downey, Jr. joined the cast right after he was released from drug rehab for like the second or third time. I thought he and Calista Flockhart really had a lot of chemistry together, which made the show all the more fun to watch. It’s just too bad he couldn’t stay clean long enough to film more than 15 episodes.

You know, I stumbled across your post, and started thinking about how great “Ally McBeal” truly was. In certain ways it was a groundbreaking series. And man…does Jane Krakowski rock or what?!

Yes, “groundbreaking” is definitely a great word to describe the series. I truly miss it! I thought the entire cast was superb — all of them. There wasn’t a single character (through Season 4, at any rate) that annoyed me or that I hated. They all interacted so well with each other and each one brought something unique to the proverbial table. I totally miss this show!!
