I can’t believe what’s happening on the North Side! Last night’s 5-4 win against the Phillies coupled with Milwaukee’s loss against the Mets put the Chicago Cubs in first place in the NL Central by a half-game. This is the first time the Cubs have seen first place since Opening Day this year, and is all the more amazing when you consider the fact that the team was 8 games out at the end of June. How have the Cubs done it? By going an incredible 25-10 in their last 35 games!!!
Philly just scored 3 runs in the top of the ninth to take a 10-6 lead in today’s game, but the outcome doesn’t really matter. The Brew Crew already lost to the Mets again, so the Cubs are assured of retaining sole possession of first place for at least another day.
Unbelievable! I hope they can keep this pace up in August. Another year of October baseball in Chi-town would be wild!!!!
