My blog here is almost one year old, which is by far the longest I’ve ever kept up with a single website. I’d tried blogging off and on since 2003, but always got bored with it after a few months or so and let my sites slowly fade away. I think one of the main reasons I’ve stuck with this current site so long is that I’m actually making a substantial profit on it. Yes, once I discovered that it’s possible to make money blogging without having to rely on clicks or ad revenue, I was hooked. Now I’m in it for the long haul, and can’t wait to see what the next year of blogging brings my way!

I’ve probably mentioned this a million times before, but gambling is one of my favorite pastimes. I’ve been going to Indian reservation casinos ever since I was 18, and still love doing it. I prefer to play blackjack and craps, but a few friends of mine have been trying to get me into Texas holdem poker. Of course, poker in general and Texas holdem poker in particular are extremely popular these days, so I figured it’s about time that I learn to play.

I’ve watched other people play Texas holdem poker before, so I have a general idea of how the game works, but I don’t know any of the intricacies. My friends pointed me to a couple of websites that have articles about Texas holdem strategy and I started reading a bit about the game. It sure is a lot different than blackjack!

If I had to guess, I’d say that I probably won’t ever be very good at Texas holdem. It’s a bit more complicated than I like my gambling to be and I’m no good at reading other people. But I’ll give it a try at least for a little while to see how it goes. Just don’t count on me appearing in any Texas holdem poker tournaments anytime soon!!!
