Sickening…

I did a post a couple days ago about Michael Vick and his alleged involvement in dogfighting, and now I’m getting lots of hits from the search engines for terms like “dog fighting equipment” and whatnot.

Once again, I have to say that it makes me sick knowing that this sort of thing is going on. What kind of person puts a domesticated animal — a pet — through something as brutal and deadly as dogfighting? I guess it’s no surprise that this sort of thing is usually connected to street gangs and other scumbag types.

In Illinois, the penalty for attending a dog fight is up to one year in jail, and repeat offenders can get anywhere from 1-3 years. I hope they start locking more of these idiots up.

Options Trading

When I was in college, I took an Investments class as part of the requirements for my Business degree. The class was actually a lot of fun because we had a running contest to see who could get the best ROI throughout the semester. Any type of investment was fair game, from stocks and bonds to options, futures, and even Forex.

I built my pseudo portfolio on stocks and bonds, and actually came out a bit ahead by the end of the term. But the winner was someone who invested primarily in options and was able to generate an amazing ROI of more than 20% over four months. Ever since then, I’ve been interested in learning about options and perhaps even replicating my old classmate’s ROI in the real world.

I’ve been doing some research about online options trading and found a site called OEX Options that contains a lot of good information. Instead of just expecting you to know all about options trading already, OEX Options gives subscribers real insight and tips, as well as hard data so they can make informed trading decisions. For example, OEX Options provides detailed pivot point analysis to help identify short-term market trends that the savvy trader can then take advantage of. In addition, OEX has an exclusive mentoring system for subscribers, so I know I’ll never be left out in the cold.

I wouldn’t have enough time to track and chart these trends on my own, so if I do sign up with an online options trading service, I’d want one that provides as much useful data as OEX Options does.

I have to get serious about building a solid investment portfolio so I can have enough money for retirement. I want to start out with some aggressive investments first (like options), and then move into the more conservative stuff later on, so now’s the time to get moving!

AdSense Update

As you know, I’ve been testing out Google AdSense for the past few weeks or so. I want to see if I can make a bit of extra cash from this outlet and perhaps have it cover my monthly hosting bills or whatever.

Well, at the rate I’m going, it’s going to take me nearly two years before I ever see a check from Google! The minimum payout before they’ll actually cut you a check is $100, but I’ve only earned $4.86 thus far.

I guess that’s not too bad when I consider the fact that this is a rather low-traffic blog. The people who make serious cash from AdSense get thousands of unique page impressions per day, and I’m nowhere near that. Plus, I haven’t done much SEO on this site yet, so that could explain why I’m not making much money.

My goal is $10 per month, which is perfectly reasonable for AdSense, yet I’m not even clearing 50% of that. I’ll have to try some different things this month!

Online College

Online education is something that I believe in very strongly because I think it gives more people an opportunity to complete their college degrees. The class times are flexible so they never interfere with work or family, and the tuition is much more affordable than taking classes on campus.

Unfortunately, many people still don’t understand that online degrees from accredited schools like Capella University are every bit as legitimate and worthwhile as degrees earned in traditional classrooms. For some reason, these people automatically assume that an online degree doesn’t take as much effort to earn or is otherwise inferior to an on-campus degree.

But this is not the case at all, as more and more employers are starting to realize. Often, it takes more discipline and determination to complete an online degree because there’s no one there to force the student to do the work or to coddle the student every step of the way. Those who complete online degrees are serious about their educations and aren’t just trying to party their way through four years of school on mom and dad’s dime.

If you’re ready to finish your degree and open up more career opportunities, then check out the different programs available at Capella University and enroll today!
