There were two earthquakes in this area of Japan today. The first one happened early in the afternoon. I was out shopping at the time, and I believe that was the first time I ever experienced an earthquake while out in public. It was a pretty decent-sized one that shook all the lights and dispays in the store. It was freaky because everyone just froze and looked at each other like “WTH is going on here?” You’d think people in Japan would be used to earthquakes, but I guess not.
The second one happened in the evening. I was at home by then so I had a chance to rush over and make sure my flat-panel TV didn’t topple to the ground. I don’t have a proper stand for it; the table that it’s on is a couple inches too narrow. I’m going to have to change that so I don’t have to worry about that thing falling down every time the building shakes a bit.
Anyway, no damage at all around here. Now I’m off to check the news to see if other areas were hit hard.
