I just joined a brand new website called Sci-Edge today. Never heard of it before? Well, that’s probably because it just launched a week ago. Sci-Edge is a social networking site aimed specifically at science fiction fans, tech and gadget geeks, and science hobbyists. Think of it as MySpace for smart people!!
As I said, I already registered and created a profile over at Sci-Edge. I don’t have much info filled in there yet, but I will get to it soon. I saw that I can add pictures, audio files, and video clips, so it could take me a while to get my profile looking just the way I wanted to.
I have to say that I’m very impressed by how easy it was to sign up and get started with Sci-Edge. Unlike other social networking sites that make you fill out lengthy forms and verify your email address 10 different times, Sci-Edge got right to the point. All I had to do was submit my name, valid email, desired user name, and password. Then I got one verification email that I had to click through, and after that I filled out some basic profile stuff such as birthday and location. Then I was in and was able to start viewing other member profiles, reading blog posts, and checking out the media that people have uploaded thus far.
