Daisuke Matsuzaka’s first MLB start with the Boston Red Sox is in the books: a 4-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. The former Seibu Lions ace pitched 7.0 innings for the Sox, giving up six hits (including a home run in the 6th) and just the one earned run. Meanwhile, he struck out 10 and walked one batter.
Red Sox fans have to be pretty happy about this debut. I know it’s just one game and that it was against the Royals, but a dominant performance is a dominant performance. Glad to see Matsuzaka delivered the goods in his first outing, and I hope it continues for the rest of the season!
