In Japan it’s usual for snack and candy manufacturers to put out special “seasonal” editions of their products that are only available for a limited time each year. So for example, in the fall you’d be able to find sweet potato flavored potato chips, but wouldn’t be able to get them in, say, summer.
This is cherry blossom season, and many food manufacturers incorporate this theme into their seasonal products. I can always count on cherry flavored Kit Kats to make their appearance at this time, which is great because I really love this stuff!

I also found this ogura version, which I’d never tried before today. Ogura is red bean paste and is a common ingredient in Japanese desserts. I usually don’t care for the stuff, but this ogura Kit-Kat wasn’t that bad. The ogura was really light and hardly noticeable. I don’t think I’ll have it again, but I’m glad I tried it.

So what do you think? Would you be willing to try these flavors??

These are so cool!
Why don’t they have cherry kit kat in the states!?! that’s so not fair! I want cool themed kit kats too.

I’d probably try the cherry one. I’m always a total sucker for the mint ones that come out at Christmas!

Yes, the cherry ones are definitely worth trying! Who knows, maybe I’ll send out a few packages to some readers

Cherry flavored kit kats! Those sound pretty good! I like the packaging too. Kit Kats are boring States-side. The only “fun” thing they do are mint ones at Christmas.

Here I thought it was nifty when they had the white chocolate kitkats.
Not only does Japan lead when it comes to tech but kit kats too.

Oh my God, I LOVE Kit Kats! And of course I’d love to try those many different flavours!
On another note, in Malaysia, our food packaging only changes according to the current “contest” going on involving that certain food product. The sponsors will get to advertise their brand name very distinctively on the package.

I don’t eat a lot of candy, personally, but even I might be willing to try that cherry one! Very interesting!

Ooh, delish!!

I don’t do candy any more, but I totally would have tried them in my “hey day”!

That is way cool!

That’s cool! I’d love to see some of the different flavors that come out.

Yumm! The cherry ones sound yummy. Have you seen all the pictures of the cherry trees in blossom in Wash. DC? They are beautiful.

I would totally try cherry Kit Kats!
April 2nd, 2007 at 6:02 pm
I would try them just for the sake of saying that I did!

I have enough trouble resisting the regular stuff. I think I’d break down with all the special flavors.
April 2nd, 2007 at 8:47 pm
I would love that cherry with chocolate. Yum!

I don’t know about this. I’m not big on messing with tradition, and “regular” KitKats are perfect as is. I think I’d have to try the different flavors - many times ;0)- before forming an opinion. Hmmmm! Big Asian population in Hawaii. Maybe they import the “specials,” ya think? They do sound interesting!
