I just got done reading an article about the rise of so-called “evil twin” hotspot sites that are run by hackers and scammers in an attempt to get sensitive information out of unsuspecting users.
I’ve used public Wi-Fi spots a couple of times (while on vacation) and I have to admit that this sort of scam never occurred to me. I usually try to stick to public libraries and other places that have free access so I never give out my cc number anyway, but there’s still a risk as far as passwords go. I’m going to have to be even more careful in the future (or just wait until I get back home to check the important stuff).
