I’ve never really participated in “social networking” sites. I tried Friendster back in the day, and even had a MySpace page once upon a time, but I never really got into those things to the point where I would check my account several times a day or whatever.
Now someone I barely know invited me to join Facebook. I know what that site is, but I don’t think I have an account there (I might have signed up at some point, but I really don’t remember).
Anyway, do you use Facebook? Is it worthwhile as an actual networking tool rather than just a social site? I’d be interested in professional networking rather than social stuff. Since that’s the case would LinkedIn be a better bet for me?

I’m currently using facebook and it’s great. I enjoy using it because of the fact that I can reconnect with long lost friends from different schools I attended.
As a professional networking website, you can use it to keep in contact with different partners or whatnot. You can do this by using “groups” or by displaying yourself under a network such as a place of employment, company, etc.
I would definately give it a go and try it out to see if it meets your expectations for networking purposes. In the end, if you don’t like it, you can always delete your account.
Best of luck!

Thanks for the info. Maybe I’ll have to log in and check it out again soon!
