Create Personalized Avatars

I am a member of many online forums, and the one thing I immediately notice is how many people use personalized avatars. I’ve never had one before, and was wondering where I could get a cool one. Recently, I heard about a website called The Doll Palace, which allows users to completely customize and dress up dolls that can then be used as avatars in profiles and on websites.

To get started, all you have to do is visit The Doll Palace and start playing one of the many Dress Up Games available to you. You can choose from a wide variety of categories, including Celebrity, Goth, Emo, Princess, and a whole lot more. Although many of the avatars are suitable only for use in games for girls, guys aren’t completely left out of the action either. There are a couple of categories specifically for them.

If you’re interested in these types of fashion games, be sure to check out The Doll Palace right now! Here are some examples of what your avatars could look like:

Big Changes at PPP

PayPerPost just rolled out a huge update today that has left posties like me more confused and frustrated than anything else. They’ve made several changes to the existing blogging system, and while I can see how these changes could make everything better in theory, we could be waiting awhile for that to happen.

I’m trying to be patient here, but my PR numbers for the blogs I have in the system are wrong, and that might prevent me from taking higher-paying opps until the problem is resolved.

Oh, well: I’m sure the dev team will be working around the clock to fix the minor problems various posties have encountered, so I guess I’ll just have to grin and bear it for the time being!

Belisi Radio

Is there anything that Peter Belisi can’t do? The gentleman we all know as the fashion king of Palm Beach (and beyond) has now launched a new online radio station. Belisi Radio, which can be accessed by clicking the link I just gave you, is yet another way for Mr. Belisi to bring you his concept of beauty and sophistication.

You can hear a wide range of artists on Belisi Radio, from legends like Dean Martin and Eric Clapton to today’s hottest performers like Coldplay and Dido. I find that this variety makes perfect background music as I’m blogging, surfing the Internet, or just doing chores around the house. Plus, I can even rate the songs I hear by giving a particular title a “thumbs-up” or “thumbs-down”.

This is pretty cool, so be sure to check out Belisi Radio today!

Japan Fast Facts: Blood Type

In Japan, people frequently ask you about your blood type. That’s because many Japanese believe that your blood type influences your personality — much the same way that many people in the West believe that your Zodiac sign contributes to your personality.

I never knew my blood type until I went to Japan. I went through my pregnancy and gave birth there, which is how I finally found out. What was interesting to me was the fact that people seemed genuinely shocked when they heard that I didn’t know my own blood type. Then, they would often hazard their own guess based on what they knew about me. Everyone — and I do mean everyone — guessed that I was Type B, but I’m actually Type A.

Here’s a link to an answers.com article describing what the different blood types supposedly mean.

Increasing Backlinks

I’ve had my Fire Pit blog for about seven months now and have been working very hard to build relationships with other bloggers and increase my Google Page Rank. One of the best ways to do this, of course, is to consistently add original content and try to establish as many backlinks as possible. As my link popularity increases, then everything else should fall into place after that.

Up til now, I’ve done things the old fashioned way: I’ve visited other blogs with similar themes, left comments in the hopes that others would visit my site, and have joined as many blogrolls as I can. This approach works just fine, but it takes a lot of time and effort. I’m seriously thinking about using a good SEO marketing firm to handle things for me so I can focus strictly on content from here on out.

Do you have any recommendations?
