I usually don’t play video games too often, but I caved in and bought a PSP today. I’ve kind of had my eye on one of these since last Christmas, but I held off because I thought I would end up wasting way too much time on it. Back then I had five or six college classes left to go and couldn’t afford to sit around playing games for a few hours at a time. Now that I’m done with school, I decided to treat myself to something fun, and decided to go with the PSP over the Nintendo DS. (Photo from an Amazon.com user)
I bought two games with my PSP: Hot Shots Golf and Gretzky NHL. I tried the Gretzky NHL first, but haven’t gotten used to the controls yet. I lost the first game I played against the AI by a score of 6-0 or something like that.
So I switched over to Hot Shots Golf and played that pretty much all afternoon. Now this is a very cool game! It’s a lot of fun to play, even for a non-golfer like me. The graphics are fun, the background music is not annoying, and the gameplay is challenging but not impossible. To me, these are the most important factors in determining whether or not I’ll like a particular game. (Photo from GameSpy.com)
As for the PSP itself, I have to say that I’m quite impressed. The device is just the right weight — it feels neither too heavy nor too light when I’m holding it, and it looks slick as hell (I got the black one). The screen is nice and wide, the graphics are crystal clear, and the colors are sharp. In short, I love this thing and can’t believe I waited so long to get one!!!
